How We Work
Buying a car online may seem like a daunting task but it certainly need not be. More and more people are now looking to online motor retailers to source and supply their next vehicle because of the great savings that can be made.
Therefore in order to make our service as simple and easy to follow as possible we have listed the following steps to ensure that your online car buying experience is one that you would highly recommend to your family, friends and colleagues.
1. Search Our Stock:
Either browse all the cars listed on our site or use our ‘Personalised Search’ facility to locate your ideal car. Once you have made up your mind, either call us direct on 0845 8620677 (calls charged at local rate) or click on ‘Enquire’ and complete a simply form. We'll then call you back to discuss your enquiry in greater detail, provide you advice on the selected model and quote you a delivery lead time. Alternatively select our ‘Free Call Back’ option at the top of the page and we’ll get back to you at a time that’s convenient at no cost to you.
2. Finding Your Ideal Car:
If you cannot find the exact car that you are searching for don’t worry. Simply click ‘Personalised Search’ and tell us what it is you are looking for. We’ll contact our network of UK car dealers, manufacturers and other UK sources to locate your ideal car at the best possible price.
If you want to choose a particular specification on you new car you can. All you need to do is advise us of the options you would like including by completing the notes section of one of our enquiry or contact forms. We’ll call you back with an individual quote, delivery lead time and any other information you may require.
3. Part Exchange:
If you have a car to part exchange then you have two possible choices. You could either choose to advertise and sell your car privately or alternatively provide us with your cars details by completing our 'Part Exchange' form and we will agree a price for your car with you. Your part exchange would then be viewed by a member of either our own or the supplying dealerships team on or before the point of delivery to confirm its mileage and condition etc match your description.
You may even want to accept our part exchange price as a ‘fall back’ position then attempt to sell your car privately prior your new car being delivered. You will already probably realise that selling your car yourself would probably be more financially viable for you, we just want to help you any way we can. Remember we don’t need to take your car in part exchange but are happy to offer you this as an option should you wish.
3. Car Finance Options:
There are a number of different car finance offers and ways to fund your car that you may want to take advantage of. If you find that our quotes are more competitive we would need to you complete a simple proposal form that we will forward to the most competitive finance company for their approval. Once accepted we will again confirm this with you directly. In most instances we will allow the supplying dealer to provide a comparative finance quote, this way you’ll be safe in the knowledge that you are being offered the same deal by the manufacturer as if you were stood in the dealer’s showroom. Prior to finalising a finance quotation we may need you to complete a more detailed Finance Proposal form. Proposal forms for both ‘Private Users’ and ‘Business Users’ can be found at the bottom of the ‘Finance Page’.
4. Order Confirmation and Deposit:
Once you have decided that you are completely happy with both the car you have selected, the price that has been agreed and how you propose to pay, we would request you complete our order conformation and pay a £500 deposit for your new car. Both the car order and deposit will be immediately placed with the supplying UK dealer, who will in turn send you their own order confirmation. This will include both a written receipt and confirmation of the estimated date of delivery. Upon receipt we would ask you to check both your personal and car details have been processed correctly and inform us immediately of any errors or omissions.
Alternatively should you feel more comfortable paying your deposit direclty to the main franchised dealer then this can be arranged.
5. Order Progress:
Whether you have opted to purchase a brand new or pre-owned car, we will regularly keep you informed of your vehicles progress during either the manufacturer process of your new car and/or your cars steps through the pre delivery inspection and full valet process.
6. Delivery:
If you have chosen a new car then once we have been advised by the supplying UK dealer that your vehicle is ready for delivery, we will request you provide a valid insurance cover note in order that your car can be taxed in your own name and a precise delivery date and time will be arranged. For pre-owned cars we would again be able to arrange a precise delivery date and time at the point it is confirmed that the car has completed its pre-delivery inspection and full valet process.
Delivery charges for all cars to anywhere in mainland UK (excludes Northern Ireland) are included in the price quoted and will be undertaken by either a representative of valuecarsdirect or the supplying UK dealer.
NB: Road tax is included in the price for all new cars ordered (please check the exact term) whereas any used vehicle, road tax would be charged separately should you wish us to do this on your behalf prior to delivery.
7. Payments:
We would require that the total outstanding balance for your car is paid in full by cleared funds prior to your vehicles delivery. This can be done by either:
- CHAPS or BACS transfer
- Internet Balance Transfer
- Bankers Draft or Building Society Cheque (these must be received & cleared prior)
- Car Finance (finance documents require signature & all deposits paid prior)
We would also need to inspect your Part Exchange vehicle to confirm its condition and description match those provided prior to delivery.
Alternatively, should you wish to view your car prior to paying the final balance, this can be arranged but would necessitate your to travelling to the supplying UK dealers location. A forward delivery date could then be arranged to ensure that all funds are cleared prior or alternatively you could drive your car away if cleared funds are passed over at this time.
Credit card payments are accepted as means of final balance payment; however an additional handling charge as a percentage of the payment made will be applied for any payment over £1,500
8. Warranties:
All new cars are supplied with a full UK manufacturers warranty, this is usually a minimum of 3 years cover and in most instances would normally include at least 1 years roadside assistance.*
All nearly new and used cars are supplied with a minimum of 1 years parts and labour warranty, however in most instances cars supplied that are under 3 years old will carry the balance of the manufacturers 3 year warranty. If however your car has less than 1 years warranty remaining then this will be renewed to a 12 month minimum warranty period.
*New car warranty cover provided by individual manufacturers may vary in some instances and be for periods greater than 3 years and roadside assistance service may also vary and be greater than 1 year. 9. Referrals and Follow Up:
Following the delivery of your car, we will ensure that we make a follow up call to you within the first 3 days of your ownership and again a week or so later. This way we can answer any questions you may have about your car having driven it for a few days and also ensure that you are completely satisfied with the whole enquiry, sales and order process and take any feedback or ideas that you may have on how we can improve our service levels.
We would also like to ask whether you would be willing to recommend our service to any of your family members, friends or work colleagues. This in turn allows us to keep our advertising costs down and therefore your personal referrals and recommendations are very important to us.
10. 7 Day Exchange Plan:
We understand that buying a car online may seem like a daunting experience and as such realise that the condition of every car we supply has to be of the highest level. We pride ourselves in ensuring that your new car is delivered direct to your door in only the best condition. Therefore if you are not satisfied with your new car on delivery we will endeavour to work with the supplying dealer to do everything possible to rectify any problem with the minimum inconvenience to yourself.
However, in the very unlikely event that you have a valid reason not be satisfied with your car after delivery and we are unable to rectify any reasonable issues, we will endeavour to exchange your car for a similar make or model located from our extensive sources within the first 7 days of your ownership. You therefore know that we are committed to get everything right for you first time.
